Food is art; you taste it first with your eyes.

Leading the innovative culinary team at The Mill House is Executive Chef Jeff Scheer.  From a small town in southeastern Ohio, Jeff was drawn to the kitchen at a young age, acquiring his love for cooking from his grandmother.

Studying and apprenticing (both in the kitchen and in the fields) throughout California and Oahu, upon arriving in Maui, Jeff knew he had found home.  Following graduation from the Maui Culinary Academy in 2008, a small private chef business evolved into "Maui Executive Catering" and its coveted “Chef’s Table” events.

Now at the helm of The Mill House dining experience and all the venues it encompasses at Maui Tropical Plantation, Jeff is creating the ultimate "farm to table" model by growing and sourcing unique and timely ingredients that are literally yards from the kitchen.  This translates to an experience that is varied, endlessly creative....and unique on the island of Maui.

My appreciation for what Maui has to offer on a culinary level has turned into a way of life. A year round growing cycle and an abundance of local sustainable farms keep my mind stimulated and always looking to raise the bar and create something new.
— Chef Jeff Scheer (2015 'Aipono Chef of the Year)

The delicious and memorable desserts, pastries, breads and savory dishes created by Krista Garcia are based on a two decade career working and teaching throughout the northern California wine country and Pacific Northwest.  An incredibly diverse resume - from the fine French cuisine of “The French Laundry”, to the Southern cooking of Chef Jan Birnbaum’s “Catahoula” in Calistoga, has gifted Krista with a passion and enthusiasm for creating, teaching and sharing her culinary knowledge.

Now pairing her skills at The Mill House with Chef Scheer, she has opened a new, exciting chapter of creative discovery and collaboration!

With an 18+ year career in the restaurant industry, spanning Tel Aviv, Paris and Manhattan, Lee Oren has served multiple roles in fine food establishments, ranging from a Michelin 3-star restaurant, to a family owned patisserie.  Her focus has remained the same; fine ingredients, attention to details, and providing a memorable dining experience.  From the development of the cocktail and wine menus, to imbuing the ever-evolving dining menu with sustainability and local culture, Lee’s passion at The Mill House is to dazzle our guests, leaving them inspired, satisfied and returning for a fresh, new experience.
